Welcome to Climber’s FAQ page for Qlik Sense and QlikView! Here we have collected the most common questions we receive about the BI tools Qlik Sense and QlikView. We cover topics such as functionality, pricing, and also comparison with other BI tools. 1. What does Qlik Sense cost?

Qlik Sense is offered in two different license models:

a) The first one is user based pricing with Professional Users and Analyzer Users. Included in this model, you can also purchase Analyzer Capacity Minutes, enabling customers to provide all users with access to the platform and consuming capacity based on minutes rather then data.

b) The second option is Data Capacity. Customers need to purchase gigabyte capacity packs, and this capacity is then consumed based on ‘Data Analysed’. The two different user type are ‘Full Users’ and ‘Basic Users’. To get an exact cost, please contact us for a quote.

2. How does Qlik Sense work?

Qlik Sense is a data analysis and visualisation tool that makes it possible to collect and analyse data from various sources. With the help of Qlik’s “Associative Engine”, you can explore the data and discover insights that traditional analysis tools often miss. It is designed so that you will quickly get answers to your questions. As it is based on clear visualisations of your data, you can easily access the information. With Qlik Sense, it is also easy to create interactive reports and dashboards that can be shared with colleagues.

3. Why Qlik Sense?

Qlik Sense is popular thanks to its associative analysis engine that makes it easy to analyse data and find insights. “The power of Green, White, and Grey” is something that Qlik usually talks about. The ability to analyse not only what is selected and displayed in green; what is related to the selection and displayed in white; but also what is NOT connected to the selection displayed in grey. It provides an opportunity to gain insights into your data that other tools cannot offer.

4. What does Qlik do?

Qlik is a company that develops software for data analysis, visualisation and integration, including QlikView, Qlik Sense, Qlik Cloud, and Qlik Talend Cloud. Their solutions help organisations collect, analyse, and present data in an efficient and visually appealing way, enabling faster and better decision-making.

5. What is the difference between QlikView and Qlik Sense?

Both Qlik Sense and QlikView are data analysis tools from Qlik. Qlik Sense is the newer modern product that offers more and more appealing visualisation possibilities, as well as a responsive interface. Qlik Sense also has open APIs which make it possible to add additional functionality that increases the flexibility of the product, such as Vizlib Extensions . QlikView focuses more on traditional reports and dashboards through guided analytics.

6. Is Qlik Sense an ETL tool?

Qlik Sense is primarily a data analysis and visualisation tool, but it has some ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) functionality. It can extract data from various sources, transform and prepare it for analysis, but it is not as powerful as dedicated ETL tools including Qlik Talend Cloud.

7. Is QlikView discontinued?

QlikView is not discontinued, but Qlik is focusing more on the development of Qlik Sense as their main product. QlikView will still be supported and updated, but new functionality will primarily be found in Qlik Sense. New customers are no longer able to purchase QlikView licences.

8. What is better than QlikView?

There are several alternatives to QlikView, such as Qlik Sense, Tableau, and Power BI. Which tool that is best suited depends on your needs, budget, and preferences. It is important to compare functionality, ease of use and price but also TCO (total cost of ownership) before making a decision. We’re happy to help you find the best solution for your needs.

9. Is Qlik Sense better than Tableau?

Both Qlik Sense and Tableau are leading tools for data analysis and visualisation. The choice between them depends on the user’s needs and preferences. Qlik Sense has a stronger associative analysis engine, while Tableau is sometimes considered to have more advanced visualisation capabilities.

10. What is Qlik Cloud?

Qlik Cloud is a cloud platform for data integration and analytics. It provides data integration,  analytics, and AI services that can be used together or independently. This is a fully hosted solution provided by Qlik with SaaS tenants available is many different regions

11. What is the difference between Qlik Sense and Qlik Cloud?

Qlik Sense is a tool for data analysis and visualisation, while Qlik Cloud is a cloud platform that offers Qlik Sense as a SaaS service. With Qlik Cloud, you get access to Qlik Sense via the internet, without having to install software on your own computers, and your environment is constantly updated with the latest functionality in Qlik.

12. How do I access Qlik Cloud?

To access Qlik Cloud, you need to register for an account and then select an appropriate subscription. Once you have an account, you can log in and use Qlik Sense directly in your browser without having to install any software. Contact Climber to help you setup your new Qlik Cloud environment.

13. What is Qlik Data Integration?

Qlik Data Integration is a set of tools and services that help organisations collect, transform, and integrate data from different sources in real time or in batches. It helps users prepare and make data available for analysis in Qlik Sense or other analysis tools.

14. What does Qlik integrate with?

Qlik can be integrated with a variety of data sources and platforms, including databases, APIs, web services, social media, and cloud services. In addition, Qlik can be integrated with other business applications, such as CRM and ERP systems.

15. What is cloud-based data integration?

Cloud-based data integration is the process of collecting, transforming and integrating data from various sources using cloud services and tools. This enables faster and more scalable data management, while reducing the demands on local resources and infrastructure.

16. What is machine learning?

Machine learning is a branch of artificial intelligence (AI). It is based on computers learning from data and improving with experience without being explicitly programmed to perform a specific task. Algorithms are trained to find patterns and correlations in data and to make the best decisions based on that analysis.

17. What is SQL?

SQL (Structured Query Language) is a programming language used to communicate with and manipulate databases. It helps users to create, read, update and delete data, as well as administer database structures and user permissions.
